7th Grade Trip- BRIC and Brooklyn Walking Tour

In the final segment of our Renaissance Unit, the seventh graders are examining the change Brooklyn is undergoing. They will be gathering evidence that shows the spirit of the culture of Brooklyn in a time capsule. On today's launch, they visited the Mapping Brooklyn exhibit at the BRIC. They viewed the juxtaposition of standard maps of Brooklyn against artists' renderings. One map was created using small scraps of trash from every block in Broojlyn. The result was a beautiful piece of art full of texts in many languages. They also viewed a graffiti map of Bushwick and created their own maps of their commutes to school.

On the walking tour, they examined how Barclays Center has changed our neighborhood. They also viewed the new builds near Junior's Cheesscake.
