The sixth graders presented their individual 2D and group 3D models of Public Place at our mock Community Board 6 Meeting. Public Place is a brownfield in Gowanus, Brooklyn that is polluted from its former industrial use. Our students created individual plans for the space with special consideration for the needs of the neighborhood, the growing population and sustainability. After developing their individual scaled drawings, they came together in groups. Each group was assigned a user group. During their collaboration time, they chose structures from their individual plans that would best meet the needs of their user group.
